RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE IN SIERRA LEONE
Have you ever wondered how Religious Tolerance in communities can bring about unity and development.
The Parish Priest of St. Peter and Paul's parish in Fadugu town, Northern Sierra Leone, the Rev Fr. Luigi Brioni sx, yesterday 30th May,2017,invited the Chief Imam of the Fadugu Central mosque to deliver Ramadan message to pupils and staff of a Catholic owned school, St. Jerome Agricultural Secondary School.
In his message, the Imam, Alhaji Yorroh Kondeh admonished all to keep this Ramadan month holy and refrain from all the things that are forbidden during this month as it is a month of repentance and forgiveness. He went further to pray for the school to be at peace with each other and evoked the spirit of Allah to weed out all those with bad intent to bring the school down as it is for the good of all that the Catholic mission established the school.
The Imam further prayed for the parish priest and all parishioners for the opportunity giving him to come and give Ramadan talk in the school. He went ahead to say that it is only religious tolerance that can lead to such.
Rev Fr Brioni sx. earlier welcomed the Imam and thanked him for honouring his request and call on all to adhere to the message and keep this month holy.
The principal, Patrick Mark Turay who was listening keenly asked all his staff and pupils to be religious tolerant so our community can move on.
