FIRST PARISH YOUTH CAMP AT STS. PETER AND PAUL PARISH – FADUGU
«You are my friends if you do what I command you » (Jn 15: 14).
Saints Peter and Paul Parish organized a youth camp from 19th to 21st January 2018. Our parish has 20 outstations in three chiefdoms: Kasunko, Kayaka and Thamso. From every outstation, we invited four youths: 2 girls and 2 boys to attend the Parish Youth Camp, first edition.
We tried to help them to make friends among themselves and to deepen their friendship with Jesus who should be always their model. Indeed, Jesus told his disciples: “You are my friends if you do what I command you” (Jn 15: 14). Also, we helped them to be aware that they were not just the future of the Parish, but the present too. The participants were 57. They enjoyed being together.
Moreover, we invited Fr. Francois Noah, a Xaverian Missionary, to this youth camp. He spoke to them about Christian leadership (cf. Mt 20: 25-28; 1P 5: 1-4). Fr. Luigi Brioni, sx helped them to know the meaning and the value of Christian prayer (cf.1Th 5: 17-18). And Fr. Martin ALI KEKE, sx helped them to understand that the human body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (cf. 1Co 6: 19-20). It (the human body) is not a toy.
On Sunday January 21st, after the Eucharistic celebration presided by Fr. Martin ALI KEKE, they were sent to their outstations to share with others what they had learnt. “To be Christians means to be missionaries, to be apostles. It is not enough to discover Christ – you must bring Him to others” Saint John Paul II.
