From February 18th to 20th, 2016, we had a great time with our prayer leaders at Ss Peter and Paul, Fadugu Parish. Twenty five showed up. They are from eighteen of our outstations. Fr. Brioni and I helped them to reflect on the Message of Pope Francis for Lent 2016. We mostly encouraged them to practise the Corporal and Spiritual works of mercy, specially now that we are in the extra-ordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy.

In addition, we reminded them of the importance of Sunday in Christian life. To explain this we used Dies Domini, the Encyclical letter of Pope John Paul II written in 1998. Indeed, St John Paul II said: “For Christian, Sunday is above all an Easter celebration, wholly illumined by the glory of the Risen Christ. It is the festival of the new creation” (Dies Domini, no 8). We encouraged them to value the Lord’s Day, which is Sunday, in their lives and in the lives of the “Christians” whom they are guiding.
