Here in Kabala Fr. Victor has organized a football games Post Ebola Tournament for the youth in the parish whether Catholics or not. The aimed of the game was to create an atmosphere of friendship among young people and to let them feel that the Catholic Mission has concerned for them. Besides, it was more than a year that the youth and the children were suppressed in playing football because of Ebola. For now at least the normal activities have resumed.
Fr. Victor with the help of the organizers created six teams (Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Sierra Leone, Germany and Portugal). Each team composed of nine players. They played in the afternoon around 4 o` clock onwards except on Monday and Thursday. The tournament started on the 18th of August and ended on the 11 of September. Each team played five games. Each winning games 3 points. The highest number of points in five games turned to be the winner. In this tournament Portugal won with 25 points in five games played. The second was Italy with 11 points. The final match of the game turned very hot because everyone wanted to grab the champion. It was attended by good number of youth, children and some adults in our parish. The tournament was a success. As Fr. Victor said, it was a tournament played in 15 matches without any palavers/confusion among the players. The behaviors of the players were admirable. And that was a good example. Many adult parishioners appreciated them much.
Before giving the award, the champion team (Portugal) and the second (Italy) played a friendly match. After, Fr. Victor awarded the trophy and the medals to the first and the second. And every player in each team received a certificate and so as with the organizers. All players and the organizers were grateful and glad considering the heavy downpour of rain oftentimes interrupted the game.
