The Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Makeni, Bishop Natale Paganelli sx, visited the inmates at the Makeni Correctional Centre on January 1st, 2017. He prayed with them and afterwards a prepared lunch was given to all of them.

In his message, he told the 190 inmates that he had a special mention for them when he closed the Jubilee Year of Mercy in the Our Lady of Fatima Cathedral last October 2016. He told them that he wishes to visit them, as he wants to reach out to all, even those in the Correctional Centre. He said: “As disciples of Jesus Christ we need to show concern for everybody”. He promised that the Diocese of Makeni, through the four parishes in town, will do something in various ways to improve the conditions in the Correctional Centre.

Supt. J. J. Senesie, the Director of the Makeni Correctional Centre, expressed his thanks to the Apostolic Administrator for his visit and concern. Afterwards Bishop Natale gave his blessing to all present, and in return the staff and the inmates gave  Bishop Natale a fine Card with a heartfelt applause, gratitude and best wishes for the New Year.
