June 25th, 2013- June 25th, 2020, 7 years since Fr. Giuseppe Berton died. He was remembered yesterday in a memorial mass organized by the members of the Family Homes Movement (FHM) at their office in Freetown. Were present at the celebration, the staff of FHM and some representatives of the communities where FHM is presently working.
Echoing the gospel of Matthew 25: 31-46, Mr. Ernest Sesay, executive director of FHM said: many people in Sierra Leone have been helped by fr. Berton and they will always be grateful to him. But the special gift we have received form him is the gift of faith in Jesus Christ, he added. He concluded reminding his colleagues and all members of FHM that Fr. Berton is not a great monument to contemplate and admire; rather, a man to imitate. And the best way to imitate him is to keep alive his legacy, that of love in deeds, especially in taking care of the poorest.
