CHEERFUL RELEASE ANNOUNCEMENT

Third Sunday in ordinary time, year C, January 23 2022.

After the Christmas season we have returned to the Ordinary time. During ordinary time we should pay homage (rejoice and thank). You know why? Because, deep down, most of our life is ordinary time. And although the "extraordinary" times bring us closer to the mystery of our faith and to the celebration with others, it is in ordinary time when the important things in life are given to us and when we are called to live fully.

Luke's gospel is the gospel of the kindness and compassion of Jesus, and thus this gospel goes beyond the pre-established religion of that time. It is also the gospel of the action of the Holy Spirit, of prayer, of joy and of the mission to the Gentiles.

Today the Lord, when in the Gospel he speaks to us the good news, is revealing his thoughts and showing us his heart, to share his life and joy with us. "Do not be sad because joy in the Lord is your strength." So the joy of the Lord is to give us good news: freedom, forgiveness and mercy.

The first announcement of Jesus is not an announcement of bitterness, but according to Jesus' words  “I am the one who comes to free you from sin, from what binds you and does not let you love, from what traps you and does not let you be at peace”.  I am the one who comes to inaugurate the time of forgiveness, the best we can hear from Him is this: I come to forgive you! Let yourself be forgiven, and He never tires of forgiving. I come to earn your love, your respect, not by force, by the attraction of love. That is our strength.

To live with Him and live with true Joy.

Have a nice Sunday.
