We are celebrating with jubilations the peak of our faith, the Easter season.
The disciples when they saw the risen Lord they were filled with joy. This joy is an inner peace and contentment after they had abandoned him during his crucifixion and death. Surprisingly enough by His appearance they see him in person alive talking to them and greeting them peace and breathing in them the Holy Spirit and telling them the forgivenes of sins. In this magnificent encounter they began to understand what Jesus told them before that he will die and on the third day will rise again - the meaning of Resurrection.
This event of the Resurrection is not merely a story telling of Jesus that we have to read, to admire and affirmed. It is our own joyous story as faithful people to experienced and shared.
Today is also the Second Sunday of Easter. This Sunday is called the Divine Mercy Sunday. Our God the Father manifests His complete goodness to us. Our God is full of mercy, goodness and compassion. We know already that our God is merciful. Why in our liturgy we keep on celebrating this?
This is to remind ourselves as believers of the Resurrection that in the midst of our human suffering we will be able to endure. And that because of this God's mercy, he sent His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, who died and now risen with us.
Other special event, is the story of St. Thomas who doubt the risen Lord . When he recognized Christ, he confessed my Lord and my God. This is also our own personal profession of the Faith to the risen Christ.
Resurrection of the Lord is equivalent to Faith. We can argue or even deny that Jesus has not been raised from the dead through our own reasons. We can create our theories as well to prove that Resurrection cannot be true. But the issue of contention here is the issue of Faith. It is our Faith that makes us believe, understand and accept. That our Lord Jesus Christ who died and buried is now alive and living with us. Alleluia!
