Who is my neighbor? An interesting question to ponder because we don't really understand who our neighbors are. It turns out that our neighbors are all human beings regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, class, and so on. And, that means including people who have hurt us.
In today's Gospel Jesus shows a new perspective on others. Jesus wanted to show how believers should manifest love, care, or concern for others, especially those who need it, are not limited by any barriers, and should not even be defeated by various rules/laws that were actually created by humans themselves.
And love others not because they are the same as us or have been good to us, but because God wants us to express His love to our neighbors.
Jesus wants an attitude of sincere and complete acceptance of others. This means that love for others does not only consist of beautiful feelings or words, but must be manifest in real actions and actions.
We are sent to dare to touch and give a helping hand to anyone in need. By doing so, we have taken part in the process leading to eternal life.
