THE JOURNEY OF A THOUSAND MILES BEGINS WITH A SINGLE STEP

The wise statement of Lao Tzu “the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” rightly describes the beginning of our formation year at Kissy Dockyard, Freetown, on the 3rd day of this month. Three young men take a step to begin their long formation itinerary in our religious family.

We cannot be silent but rather do rejoice in the Lord, the master of the Vineyard, who is still  generous with our institute by sending two young candidates who want to answer Jesus’ call, according to the spirit and Charism of our institute. “The Lord provides for the continuity of our family by giving us new brothers. We welcome them with joy and gratitude and we pledge to share with them, by word and example, the experience of the spirit we have received from the Founder. The admission and formation of new members is an integral part of our missionary service. (XVI General Chapter documents #52).  We are glad to welcome them as a gift of the Lord and assure them sound accompaniment in their formation journey. They have taken a step to follow the path of the Master of the vineyard; to know and live basic values, attitudes and experiences that constitute the fundamental base of a good disciple’s journey, according to the heart of Jesus in readiness to learn to become  Xaverian missionaries. Welcome brothers and take courage.
