Three weeks ago I went to climb the Wusum Hill of Makeni, with the group of the altar boys of the St. Conforti parish. I tell you the experience of our climbing. Before visiting a place you need two things: information about the place and personal preparation. We do not prepare as recommended by the specialists, we decided to go to the hill two days before.(?) We only carried what is necessary for our walk, water, soft drinks and bread with mayonnaise. Before starting to climb the hill, one of the altar boys said: Father, pray that the Lord may accompany us along our path, and after the prayer we continued on our path. The truth is that there is no clear path, there are only some tracks that  people make when they come to gather  wood or  go up to the top to enjoy the view of Makeni, just as we were doing. The view of the town from the hill is magnificent. I must say that we were very happy and proud to be on the top of the hill. The altar boys said: "Father, look, our new school, there is the parish, the stadium, and the tower of the town center, and - they continued - look at the sky and the landscape that surround us" and we also took some pictures to remember that moment. The altar boys sang and danced for the joy they felt. All this reminds me of the beatitudes of the  4th Sunday of Ordinary Time: that experience  transformed our present into a moment of happiness. It is true that we are nothing for the world, but if we are important to God - as we are - if we obey and seek the will of God, this transforms the bad and good times into hope and opportunity for happiness, that is, to live in the company of our Lord Jesus Christ , here in this life and in the future life. The beatitudes lead us to embrace and recognize the first announcement of the Gospel as the first blessing, it is a blessing that creates in the audience the desire to know more about the Gospel, or join the catechumenate, and receive the sacraments and with this concretizes the first announcement of the Gospel. Those blessed  who are poor in spirit, who cry, who are meek, who are hungry and thirsty for justice and who are persecuted ... Perhaps this is the deep meaning of the beatitudes because they refer to a real and fortunate state of the person's life. But this  Gospel can also mean that all this will happen in the future, but it is better to say that the Catholic Church is working for the transformation of the present and the present is on its way to the future. To conclude this reflection on the Beatitudes, they teach us that every day of our life is different in our personal history. Everything done and said is like a proverb that is full of an experience with a unique meaning. Blessed are those with a pure heart, for they will see God. Have a good Sunday.
