On March 16, 2016, here in Holy Martyrs of Uganda Parish, Kabala, we held a District Pilgrimage. Hence, the Parish Church was chosen as the center for Pilgrims in this Jubilee Year of Mercy. The occasion was graced by the presence of His Lordship Bishop Natale Paganelli, Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Makeni.
The Pilgrimage was well participated by our Parishioners, starting from our Prayer Meeting Groups in collaboration with the nearest Outstations and Prayers Leaders. There were also Representatives from the Parish of Ss. Peter and Paul, Fadugu, led by Fr. Brioni and Fr. Martin. And some parishioners, too, from the Parishes of Mongo and Yiffin: they are currently staying here in Kabala.
Our Paramount Chief, who is a Catholic, came to join the Pilgrimage and we asked him to lead the prayer for the Chiefdom. We also asked the Speaker of the Sengbe Chiefdom, who is also a Catholic, to lead the prayer for the district of Koinadugu. Mrs. Marie Soboneke represented our District Council Chairman, Sheku Kamara, who is a Catholic, to lead the prayers for the country.
When we reached the church, the five priests present together with Bishop Natale made themselves available for the sacrament of Reconciliation, after which the Holy Mass followed. We recited the profession of Faith and the Jubilee Prayer in order to obtain the Indulgence.
The whole celebration was very successful and all people who joined the pilgrimage were very happy. For many it was their first experience of a pilgrimage. Many of the parishioners from the Outstations were happy to see the Bishop for the first time.
