Annual Retreat 2023

We, the Confreres of the Region of Sierra Leone, gathered for the Annual Retreat from the 21st – 26th of May in our Regional House in Makeni. This year we have been blessed with the presence of Fr. Paulin Batairwa, sx – from Dicastery of the Inter-Religious Dialogue as our Preacher. Fr. Paulin shared his personal reflections, thoughts and wide experiences of mission in Asia and now in the Dicastery Office in Rome.

Our days of rest and prayer, accompanied by the early torrential rain of Sierra Leone, made our stay in Makeni refreshing and conducive for reflection.

Within the days of the Retreat, we invited the new Bishop Bob John to have lunch with us. Gladly he came shortly and greet each one of us.

At the conclusion of the Retreat, we invited Bishop Natale to preside the Mass and have lunch with us. In his homily, he gave a general situation of the Diocese which was very challenging and difficult since 2012. Now himself is happy and serene. He is going for Italy in our Mother House in Parma for a year of Sabbatical and likewise be get ready and available for any service and call be asked of him.

Our Retreat was also a privileged moment of personal sharing, exchanges of reflections and experiences that enriched each of us.

We were grateful to God and to Fr. Paulin.
