Reflection on the readings of the 25th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A, September 20th, 2020 by Br. Kornelius Glossanto,
The Gospel today teaches me how to become humble as a person who is following Christ. All the things that I have received from the beginning until this day are God's blessing. It is not because I am worthy or deserving to receive those gifts, but because God loves me. It is God himself who offers his grace to me. Just like the landowner in the parable who goes out to look for workers for his vineyard.
But many times I my self forget that God does not offer Himself only to a particular group or people. He gives His blessings to everybody and to all peoples. Feeling that only my group is more deserving of His Kingdom, while other people are not, is a mistake. That is not true. Such feeling only appears just because I forget that actually God’s love embraces all and everybody. Each of us is a worker in the vineyard of God in this world. What I do, all my ministry, is for God – to make sure that His vineyard may grow in this world. All the work and services are not for my own group, or for my own institution, but for God. He is the one who owns all lands and territories.
Let us not forget, that we are the servants of God in this world. Let Holy Spirit enlighten our minds and our hearts, so that we are able to work sincerely only for the glory of God. Let us be humble, ready to share joy and love with everybody. May God bless us.
