Today we are celebrating the 10th Sunday in ordinary time, Year B. The readings of today are a warning for our Christian life. In the first reading, from the book of Genesis, the Lord placed his trust in the Man but later on, Mankind did not correspond to the love of God. Because of this, the call of God became bothersome until Adam decided to hide himself from the face of the Lord. The temptation is to shut our conscience up in front of our responsibility and finding reasons and justifications. Then, the tragic answer of Adam will be our own « …it was the woman you put with me… » may God help us to awaken our conscience and always help us to recognize our guilt instead of blaming others.
In the second reading, we are invited to a strong and confident faith in God. With His Son Jesus the first born of all creation, death and its power will no longer rule over us. We are always renewed in Christ and everlasting life is ours.
In the Gospel, Jesus is so completely busy serving His Father that he cannot even have a meal. The attitude of Jesus’ relatives can be our own today. Because of their status they think they can take charge of Jesus. Sometimes we also in our families, works or activities think we are wise enough to determine what is good or bad for our siblings. May God help us not stopping anybody from doing good or charity. The scribes attitude is as arrogant as that of the relatives of Jesus. Jesus responds to them with kindness and with a clear explanation : « How can Satan cast out Satan ? » May God open our hearts to His majestic deeds. May we discover his will in our lives so as we can abide with him and remain brothers and Sisters of Christ.
