My name is Kalie Moses Mansaray, son of Michael Sankie Mansaray and Duba Koroma. I am 25. I am from Kamanso village in Wara Wara Yagala chiefdom, Koinadugu district, Sierra Leone West Africa. I am a Limba by tribe. I have six brothers and one sister. My father is a teacher in a primary school, D.E.C Heremakono, next to my village. He is also a catholic prayer leader in Holy Cross Church Kamanso. My mother is a farmer and a petty trader. My parents are very proud of me because of my decision to join the Seminary and later become missionary priest.

Now, why do I want to become a missionary? I decided to become a missionary because I am thoroughly captivated by missionaries I met before. They gave themselves for love of others and of God. They inspired people`s hearts and became ways for others to encounter God and see the beauty of life.

Missionaries are not selfish. Instead, they share genuinely by giving their time, resources and life to advance God`s kingdom of love to all humankind.  In that way, I see God’s love through them. My happiness is to know that I am loved and I can afford to love. And for me receiving love and giving love is the best reason for living a missionary life which I always long for.

Furthermore, I believe that the son of God after his resurrection left his disciples with a mandate in Mt 28: 19 “Go out into the whole world and proclaim the good news to others and baptizing them in the triune God”. This mandate of Jesus to his disciples makes me to desire more to become a missionary. In being missionary, I will participate in God’s plan of salvation for all, God’s willingness to allow all his children to share in his joy.

My other aim of willing to become a missionary is that I want to know about the mission of the church which is more than meeting the needs of Christians, more than simply evangelism. Being a missionary is to be Christ-like. That is to be someone with a soft heart that accepts people into God`s kingdom with Equality. And a hard foot to go out and preach the gospel of Love to others.

Lastly, I want to become a missionary because I love God and I do not have a reason to say “No”. My “Yes” to God will be my greatest happiness in order to fulfill my desire. And I want to spend my entire life carrying his message of love to others who do not yet know about His love and to spend my entire life with them. And when my time here on Earth is over, I am sure God will welcome me with a smile on his Face.

For now, I am a seminarian. For me, it’s a time of discernment. On this journey, I carry out some pastoral activities. Since I entered the Xaverian missionary Formation house in Kissy, I have always strived hard to study for my exams and to prepare well in performing my pastoral duties during the weekend. Pastoral activities have helped me so much to have more knowledge about my Faith.

Concretely, my pastoral ministry is to accompany the following people: Altar servers, Infant Jesus, Catechumen and Legion of Mary. Among all these ministries, I am highly fascinated especially with Altar servers and Catechumen. Because they help me greatly in terms of acquiring knowledge about Christian faith. At the beginning, I thought, I was there to help children. But now, I see that they are the ones who helped me. With them, in a simple manner, we take part in God’s mission and the mission of the Church that is to share the Gospel of love to all.
